STI took just 2hrs to clear the resistance zone near 2328~2333 (yellow downtrend line + hourly upper bollinger band + hourly midas line) at one go!!
Such superb breakout from triangle formation lead a massive surge from 2333 to 2389 within the next 4hrs...
So...Mr. Market had made up his mind decisively on its new direction today after dancing within the hourly bollinger band for past 3 weeks... ;)

Now...The "ultimate" midas line 2439 (plotted from its all-time high) will be the next major obstacle to overcome...
Note that STI was unable to clear this "ultimate" midas line in May'08...so will it be able to clear it in July'09? We shall know the answer very soon... 8-)

thanks for the charts.

me too, i almost fell off the chair after STI made just a big break.
the big boys really know how to skillfully make a fake H&S formation, luckily was not overly bearish and didn't short. 8-)

i'm think the resistance will be broken tomorrow if dow closes more than 200, but who knows?
i'll be buying on dips anyway

With Dow at 8616(+256) last night, STI could easily break through 2439 in coming trading hours? .... time to release some of my stocks from my freezer!

As STI pierces through the ultimate midas resistance 2439 for the first time since Jan 2008, its in breakout mode now...
There are many methods to measure the strength of breakout...
One simple way to measure the strength/momentum is to plot its EMA line, which has been curve-fitted to its recent support during this leg of rally...
So any dip below this EMA will indicate a short-term loss to its breakout strength/momentum...this approach is often used in forex and futures trading...

The hourly chart above shows a purple EMA line of 13...this EMA line will continue to rise until the STI interacts with it...
If STI is unable to find support upon interacting with this EMA line, this will imply a loss to the uptrust strength... ;)

A flashback on STI rally in May using the EMA line method...the curve-fitted EMA has a parameter of 10 for this particular leg of rally...
Observe how STI experienced a short-term weakness after it fails to stay above the EMA line...

STI still holding well above the hourly EMA(13), maintaining its breakout momentum... 8-)

Coz there is no more midas resistance line on top....and the nearest midas support line below is still the ultimate 2439... ;)
